Harvest Weekend Celebrations (including the Young People’s Prizegiving) were led by former CO’s Majors Robert and Rita Pearce and commenced with a meal and entertainment on Saturday evening with Major Robert Pearce providing moments of thought and reflection.
Sunday Worship included harvest songs and items from the YP Singing Group, Band and Songsters. Our Young People each received a book for their attendance in Sunday School in the past year.
Taking Psalm 23 as the base of her message Major Rita Pearce used the table, and spoke of its importance in the home and in some cultures, gathering around a table would provide more than just physical food, it would also provide fellowship and a place of sustenance for our lives.
During the closing song the Young People presented their harvest baskets the contents of which would be used to restock the shelves of the corps foodbank that in the recent weeks had seen a huge growth in the number of people coming for help. This was also supplemented in the following days by donations from the local Church in Wales and several schools in the area.
In the afternoon the Band and Songsters presented its monthly concert in the foyer of Morriston Hospital which was enjoyed by patients, visitors and staff alike.
