FIRST WEEKEND FOR DIVISOINAL FELLOWSHIP BAND

By Simon Richardson

The South & Mid Wales Divisional Fellowship Band conducted its first weekend campaign since inception in 2014 at Morriston Citadel.  Much thought and planning was evident over the weekend.  Saturday night festival started with ‘Eine Feste Burg’ and included ‘Selection from Spirit’, ‘Guardian of My Soul’ and the classic ‘Cairo Red Shield’.  Morriston Citadel Songsters also supported in singing ‘Your Grace Still Amazes Me’ and ‘Midnight Cry’.

SMWFellowshipSunday morning worship included testimony the bands oldest member David Davis (Pontypool) and the bible thought from Band Sergeant Mark Simmonds.  One of the highlights for members of the band was the singing of the Morriston Y.P. Singing Group.

An afternoon festival featured a variety of music from the band supported by the songsters.  Testimonies shared by Ken Batt (Skewen Temple) and Trevor Harry (Treharris) told of their varied journeys, Jane Horne (Cwmbran) contributed a vocal solo.  Band Sergeant Mark Symonds (Pentre) shared his ‘Thoughts from the Gym’ and the similarities to the Christian journey.  A great weekend of fun, fellowship and most importantly spiritual nourishment concluded with the band playing its signature march ‘Coleg Y Fro’.
