Local Charity Fundraising Concert

On Friday 23rd September our Songsters (Choir) will feature alongside other local musicians in a Fundraising Concert at Morriston Hospital for a local charity.

The Welsh Dragon Burns Club is run by a committee of 14 volunteers, who include staff at the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery at Morriston Hospital, a former patient who was injured in the Corus blast, and Corus employees, along with volunteers from a range of backgrounds who are committed to helping children with burns.
The club was launched in 2003 to help children up to the age of 16 who are being treated or have been treated at the Burns Centre (or the former unit at Chepstow) for burns injuries.
Its aim is to offer support and friendship for these children and their families, to allow them to meet and befriend other children who have suffered burns so they don’t feel isolated, and to help them rebuild their confidence.
The children enjoy parties and day trips and family events, and also two full weekends away each year at an activities camp, as well as a national jamboree with other burns clubs.
In addition, a secure chatline has been set up on the Club’s website, which allows the children to safely keep in touch with each other between events.
Morriston Citadel Songsters will feature alongside Cwmrhydyceirw Junior School Choir, Lauren Jones (Vocal Soloist) and our own Jonathan Mead (Brass Soloist) and the concert will be compared by Eirian Wyn.
The concert commences at 7.00pm in the Lecture Theatre at the Hospital with tickets priced at £5.00 which are available from Helen Mason or here.
